Blog Income Report – June 2016

How much money do bloggers make? Here is the blog income report and blog traffic report for June 2016.

I’ve been wanting to do blog income reports for a while now but I’m nervous about sharing. I always enjoy reading them myself, so I thought it would be cool of The Bewitchin’ Kitchen had a monthly breakdown on what went down. It also forces me to analyze my stats, so it will do me some good as well. I’ll post one for a few months and see what the response is.

June has been a month of change. For the past few months, my stats have fallen. I’m talking 100,000 page views and 50,000 unique’s PER MONTH, to say I was freaking out was an understatement. I know that this time of year is when things slow down on the traffic department but that much of a fall was too much for me, and after looking at last year – it just didn’t make sense.

After a lot of problem-solving and brainstorming with some fabulous blogger friends, we came down to it being the scripts on my blog. It made sense because I have a few friends who can’t access my blog because their work blocks some of the scripts I run on my blog. The majority of those scripts came from Mode Media. I’ve been unhappy with Mode for a while with the low RPM and the late payments so I gave notice and went to AdThrive (I also gave notice to The Blogger Network – now Monumetric) as well.

A few days ago, AdThrive took down my old ads and my site speed is so much better. I don’t know if this is a coincidence or not, but my traffic has increased a little bit since I made the move. Fingers crossed.

  1. Awesome! I love reading income reports. I just did my first one in a while, too. We have similar expenses and that makes me feel a little better. I was starting to feel like I spend way too much, but I swear it all feels necessary!! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

    • Hi Jennifer!
I know what you mean when it comes to expenses, and mine are about to grow too. It’s all apart of it though!

  2. Thank you for sharing & being transparent. If you’re okay with continuing to share, please do. It’s good to know about the expense part. I never know what is a good idea to spend on and what is not, so I usually don’t spend much. I do have the monthly Adobe Cloud, internet, hosting fees & now groceries for my videos. I’m not at the point where I can pay people but hopefully that will come soon.

    • Hey Nadia!

Every month is a little different, I’m usually around $1000 with expenses. In the next few months that will jump with a new custom design and a few other things but I’m hoping that my income will increase as well. Investing in myself 🙂

  3. Thanks for sharing, Randa! This is great for showing the rest of us where the income comes from in terms of the various options out there. It also shows that you have to spend money to make money…invest in your business!

  4. Thanks for sharing. I love reading blog income reports because I learn so much from them. And, your’s is no exception! You had a problem with traffic, looked into it, think you’ve solved it and have taken action! How awesome it that! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you have solved the problem and that your traffic continues in an upward trajectory!

    • Hi Carole, I’m hoping so too. I am comparing this summer with last summer and it’s not as far off as what I thought it was. Everyone has lives in the summer and want to spend time outdoors (I get that). I’m hoping for a strong fall and an even stronger fourth quarter!

  5. Congrats! (from a fellow Canadian blogger) you are doing so well. I always find these reports inspirational to read since I’ve only been blogging for about 6 months.

    • Hey Nicole!

Thank you so much 🙂 I agree, I find it inspiring as well and educational. I like to see where everyone is making their money from and what networks I should be looking at.

  6. Thank you for sharing this at Thoughts of Home.
    It is so helpful!
