Frigidaire Gallery French Door Refrigerator

Isn’t it beautiful?

Last Friday was like Christmas for me. The anticipation all morning had me on edge, waiting for my package to arrive. Finally, after lunch my doorbell rang. It was here, my new Frigidaire Gallery French Door Refrigerator was in arms reach, it was pure bliss for my type a personality. I was ready to organize, and leave my chaotic fridge behind.

We’re planning on renovating our whole kitchen later this summer, and this fridge is the kick off. I never thought an appliance could get me so fired up, isn’t amazing how priorities change once you grow up? When I first opened up my fridge to inspect it I was awe struck. There really is only one, simple word to describe it: WOW!

Frigidaire Gallery FridgeLook at all of this space! It’s spectacular! Moving from a depressing 18 cubic foot fridge to a 27.8 cubic foot one is a huge difference. I no longer have to worry about grocery shopping, especially at stores where I can buy in bulk. Coming into this fridge, I did have some knowledge on what to expect. Before I had my son I worked at a popular Canadian furniture company and had experience with selling appliances. That was about two years ago and at that time the largest cubic footage you could find was 26, so when I found out that you gained a little bit extra without the fridge getting any wider (it’s 36″ wide as it is) I was thrilled! It’s clear that Frigidaire has made some improvements on how to utilize as much space as possible. Another improvement that I took to notice right away was on the door where the ice maker access is. Before you didn’t have storage on that door, but with this model the ice maker access is compact which makes a lot of room for your condiments and juices.

The stainless steel provides a clean and modern look. It really helps dress up my kitchen and make it look a little more luxurious. The stainless steel is brushes, so fingerprints are not as obvious. To be completely honest, the only place where I have noticed my 15 month old’s hand prints are on the handles where there is a strip of smooth material. It’s minor. Next time you’re out looking at appliances place your hand on the fridges and see how many can attest to this feature. Frigidaire Gallery puts the extra step of ensuring a smudge proof finish by placing a protective coating over your real stainless steel. I’m all for a fridge with less maintenance.

As for features, my two favourites are simple ones: the bottom freezer and the cool drawer.

Frigidaire gallery freezer

Having the freezer on the bottom not only enhances the space that’s provided but makes it so much easier for daily interactions. When you compare how often you are in your fridge to how often you are in your freezer: the fridge wins. It’s so nice to have everything at eye level and not having to hunch down to grab veggies or fruit. If anything the Frigidaire Gallery French Door Refrigerator will only help me lead a much healthier lifestyle. My fruits and vegetables jump out as the first things I see whenever I open my fridge. I really like how the freezer is organized as well. There are deep compartments on the bottom (that are removable for easy cleaning), slots against the door (perfect for frozen pizzas, I have boxes of frozen pineapple skewers there) and the top of the freezer is a wire basket that glides for easy access. Right now (and in this photo) I have the follow in my freezer: 6 packages of ground turkey, a 3kg box of frozen chicken breasts, 16 individual chicken skewers, 2 boxes of frozen pineapple, 3 bags of frozen fruit, bag of frozen apples, 2 bags of frozen veggies, frozen turkey dinner, 3 bags of frozen shrimp,  halibut, cod, two trays of ice and a magnum bar. My freezer still looks empty (just look at the photo), I would say it’s 1/4 full.

Cool Drawer

The cool drawer is a great place to store things like meat, eggs, etc. We  go through a lot of eggs in this house and they were a huge space waster in my previous fridge. Right now I have a carton of 12 and a large flat of 30, a package of deli meat, ground beef and hummus and I still have a lot of room to spare. This particular feature is perfect if you’re preparing for a party. You could easily fit a large party platter (or a sheet cake) in here, which would leave enough room for beverages, food and dessert in your fridge.

Frigidaire Fridge

There is simply so much space in the refrigerator part that I have a hard time fitting it all in the photo. I just got back from a grocery shop and everything in this fridge (not including condiments) was $120. $120 worth of milk, produce and meat and I still have loads of space to fill. Something that I think is truly amazing are the shelving and the freedom they provide. Like all fridges, you can adjust and remove your shelves but this fridge also makes your life easier with some of the storage features. On the top left there is a shelf that easily flips up if you have a taller item (like milk) and on the top right there is an adjustable shelf. This particular shelf slides in and out (to make it a half or full shelf) for the same reason as the flip shelf. Sometimes you just need the extra space. Because of this feature, I was able to place a whole cake in a cake display on my fridge. I have never been able to do that before. Another fun storage feature is the wine rack (beside the bottom arrow), I currently have a bottle of chocolate wine taking up the space but it can also hold a few soda or beer cans as well.

I haven’t been able to use the water and ice feature yet (hubby is supposed to be installing it any day now) but I have read that the filtration Frigidaire’s PureSource Ultra® Water Filtration best in it’s class. I’m thrilled to hear that since the city I live in has highly chlorinated water that tastes awful. This will save me money on a water cooler and the hassle of going back to the store often to refill the jug.

If you can’t tell I’m a little overwhelmed (in a good way) with all the awesome features and organizing benefits the Frigidaire Gallery French Door Refrigerator provides. Since I’m a Frigidaire Canada Ambassador, this isn’t the last you will hear of it either. You can expect a post in July and another in August from me filling you in on my experiences with the fridge and an in depth look into what you can expect with this fridge.
