My Memories Digital Scrapbooking Software Review & Giveaway

I used to scrapbook (almost full time), but since I started working over a year ago my scrapbooking hobby slipped through the cracks. Scrapbooking is a great way to preserve your memories, but it takes a lot of time and energy (not to mention the creativity that I simply do not have). Another aspect to traditional scrapbooking that can get a little annoying is the mess. Two weeks after I accomplish a project I am still finding little a’s or brads around the house. It gets everywhere and is tedious to clean.

Those are the reasons, I am turning to digital scrapbooking. I have been digital scrapbooking for about two years and have been mixing the new and the old ways of keeping our memories alive. I have recently been using MyMemories Digital Scrapbooking Software, and I really like their platform. Before MyMemories I was using Adobe Photoshop, which is great but it isn’t the most user friendly. The only reason I can understand the basics is because I learned it in high school. If I was just to start out with it, I would be lost. Heck, I still am lost and I feel like I’m in a rut with Photoshop because I am not too sure on how to improve my skills.

MyMemories is a simple platform to get used to and you acheive optimal results, fast. I really like their templates. I designed the page you see here (with my dog Chilli), in literally thirty seconds. This photo was taken in the fall and his coat was growing in nice and thick. The theme is still a bit random, but I just wanted to do something quick for you all to see. I chose the template, clicked the empty space (where his photo is now) and inserted the picture. That was it! On the white bar you are able to add some journaling if you would like. This is just one of the templates. Most templates read like a story book. They give you a few to use, so you can create a whole themed album.

Scrapbooking is an expensive hobby. Take a walk down Michael’s aisles and just to do one album your looking at spending up to hundreds of dollars. Another benefit to digital scrapbooking is that is so cheap. It’s almost free (you can find thousands of free “papers, templates, letters, etc online). When I first got involved in digital scrapbooking (when I purchase Photoshop) I spent hundreds on the software. I wish I knew about MyMemories then. For only $39.97 you get the digital software MyMemories Suite which does a lot more then Photoshop. You can make calendars, add sound, and movies to your online album (which you can then add to a slideshow and show loved ones). You can print your pages from the software, or export them to JPEGs so you can print them yourself, or share on Facebook. The opportunities are endless.

Lately, I have been really involved in making online photobooks. I find that I save money doing it that way (no albums to buy) and they are so cute. They remind me of coffee table books. Very professional. Last Christmas I made a photobook of some of our wedding photos for the moms and my grandma and it was a great gift idea that I am sure to do again once a little one comes around. It’s something to think about.

With Christmas coming this year,  I am sure to use MyMemories to create some photo greeting cards as well. MyMemories really seems to do it all. Even if you’re not a scrapbooker, I’m sure you will find a purpose for this scrapbook software.
