SmartWav | Baby Gift Guide

There are a lot of things that come with having a newborn: dirty diapers, sleepless nights, and crying – lots of crying. Actually, the last two go hand in hand most of the time, it’s actually something I am experiencing right now and am living through it through the help of coffee (lots of coffee). That being said, I recently tried the The Miracle Baby Sleep System and have been noticing an improvement.
SmartWav was founded by William Lenihan, Director of Jazz and Compositional Studies, Washington University, St. Louis and Jay Oliver, Los Angeles based Composer/Producer whose credits include The Eagles, Chick Corea, Dave Weckl, Sheryl Crow, Jimmy Buffett and many others, the SmartWav team has extensive knowledge and understanding of audio and music – from both scientific and cultural perspectives.

The Miracle Baby Sleep System from SmartWav has been praised by universities and parents all over, including James Cameron (the man behind Titanic and Avatar). So when I was given the chance to give it a try, I was really excited.
Carter is no stranger to letting you know when he’s unhappy. He’s a high maintenance baby, the minute he wakes up and he’s either hungry or wet, you hear about it. He definitely wastes no time.
The Baby Sleep System claims that it can stop crying in an instant, helps babies fall asleep longer and faster, and allows them to feel safe and lowers their stress and agitation. Their miracle concept comes from a scientific one. How the system works is Womb Effect. Womb Effect is an accurate reintroduction to the womb, it produces an under-water like effect that is just how your baby remembers it. It’s mixed with a soothing lullaby, you also hear a heartbeat and the under-water effect that I already explained. It’s incredibly soothing and relaxes me when I’m feeling a little overwhelmed due to the cries. Actually, as I am writing this review Carter woke up crying. I wanted to finish writing so I just simply hit play and he instantly went back to sleep. I am loving this system, however this isn’t the way I want to use it. I am using it so that Carter and I will get the recommended amount of sleep and so I don’t go crazy on being so sleep deprived. This is all on the first disc and is the first stage of the system. It is recommended you play it as your baby nods off into dreamland.

Disc two is the “sleep through the night” phase. SmartWav recommends you have this disc on repeat and you transfer into the room right after you listen to the first disc. This decreases the chances of your baby waking up and becoming agitated due to separation anxiety. The technology behind this disc is used to help your baby stay relaxed and sleep longer. The music is beautiful composed and being that it’s mixed with the heartbeat makes it relaxing, it’s enough to put me to sleep.
The third disc is for the parents. Using the “rolling white noise” technology, this disc gently puts you to sleep. You have to take care of yourself to properly take care of your baby and this disc helps a lot. I have only used this disc a few times since I only have one CD player and I try to keep it in Carter’s room. With that in mind, the few times I have used it has been really relaxing and helps me get ready to go to sleep.
With the system you also receive a special bonus CD, which is the extended long play MP3 versions. These versions are 2-7 hours long, so there is no need to have the first two discs on repeat.

At the end of the day, I love this system. In the short time I have been using it, I have been seeing some results. It’s also a great relaxant for a stressed out first time mom. I recommend it for all moms and dads out there.
