The Evils Of Gingerbread Houses

Yesterday I had the brilliant idea to build a gingerbread house. It was going to be “fun”.

Well after a house collapse, a re-build, and a lot of frustration I finally finished.
Right after this photo was taken Frosty fell and after a lot of patience (that I do not have) I finally got him to sit up with fondant and icing. Just long enough for the next photo.
Then he fell again. I came to the conclusion that he wasn’t meant to be, ate him and vowed that if my child ever asks to build a gingerbread house the answer will be no. I don’t think my child would appreciate the Christmas memory of every year we made a gingerbread house accompanied by tears, cursing and wine.

I believe that the kitchen is the heart of the home. Whether it’s discussing your day, sharing the highlights of your trip, or just having quality time with a loved one; lives are brought together at the kitchen table.

  10. Great post! I’ve often heard that gingerbread houses are tough to make. I think I pondered a kit one year but dropped it because a friend convinced me not to try it. Apparently, sometimes, you just have to eat the characters off the platter. (Funny). Came by way of Time Travel Thursdays. Enjoyed my visit, thanks, Jenn

  11. That’s why I’m going to try to make a crochet house…anyway the candy wouldn’t make it to the house if I tried to make a “real” one!
