Toddler Chia Pudding

Chia Pudding

Over the last couple of weeks I have been trying to find a creative way to serve my son healthy options for snacks and breakfasts. I recently made him Healthy Toddler Muffins and those were a hit. I have been hearing more and more about chia seeds lately and have been seeing all sorts of takes and recipes on chia pudding. When I make it for myself I tend to use unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk but since this is for my 14 month old, I wanted those brain boosting fats that are found in the whole, homogenized, milk variety.

Toddler Chia Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 1/2 cup Whole Milk
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 tsp Brown Sugar (optional)

Method

Combine all the ingredients together in a bowl and stir. Let sit for at least a half hour, or until the chia seeds are no longer crunchy.

Chia pudding is incredibly easy to make. It literally takes one minute to put together, you can put everything together the night before and store in the fridge. That way you will have a healthy breakfast ready for you in the morning. This recipe is a great base for an even more nutritous breakfast. Adding blueberries, nuts, strawberries, cinnamon, etc would only enhance it more. My next chia pudding will be combined with warm apples, walnuts and cinnamon for an apple pie inspiration.

Have you tried chia pudding yet?

  5. I’ve never tried chia before. It sounds quite interesting. I wonder if I could get my kids to try this. It would be fun to try at least. 🙂

    • It’s bland, it’s all about what you put in it. This was really good. Not too sweet – but I didn’t want it to be when it was for my 14 month old. I would probably add some stevia for myself.

  6. I have never tried chia seeds before. What an interesting concept. Must look into it.

  10. Forget the toddler! I want to eat the pudding! Lately I have been eating Chia bread so I’m sure I’d love Chia pudding! Thanks for the recipe!

    • Let me know what you think 🙂 It’s a great starter recipe, add what you think would be more appropriate for your 4 year old (bigger chunks of fruit or more sugar).

  12. I’ve never heard of this before, but I have a whole container of Chia Seeds in the freezer that I use to add to my yogurt. I am definitely going to have to try this one.

    2 tablespoons honey
    Squeeze lemon

    Blend until smoothie consistent (smooth)

Add 4 tablespoons chia seeds mix with fork, whisk, spoon
Place in fridge and enjoy for breakfast next day

My 8 year old daughter tried this morning and my 5 year old son also tried it.

    • Hey Loni! That sounds amazing. I haven’t made a chia pudding in so long, so you just reminded me to update this recipe and get some nicer photos up 😉
