Summer usually means that backyard entertaining is in full swing. Burgers and hot dogs get old fast so I like to change it up and do appetizer nights.

There is something about food that you can pick up with your hands and eat, maybe it’s our primal instinct, but I love it.

Where to find Canadian Chicken

As Canadians, it’s important that we look for the Raised by a Canadian Farmer logo. When you buy Canadian Chicken, you are supporting our neighboring farmers and contributing to our economy (it sustains over 78,000 jobs).

Canadian Chicken Farmers have strict rules over animal care and safety, and Canadian chicken has no added hormones. Learn how Canadian Chicken is good for Canadians.

How to Make Healthy Chicken Wings

There’s a rumor out there that chicken wings are unhealthy.

It’s a load of bull.

Listen, there are unhealthy ways to eat chicken wings, just like there’s an unhealthy way to eat anything.

Here are a few tips to make healthy chicken wings:

  • Use herbs and spices (like this recipe).
  • Lay off the sauce. Most sauces are loaded with sugar and that ups the calories.
  • Bake or grill your wings. Don’t fry your wings, toss them in the oven or on the grill (yes, you can totally bbq chicken wings).
  • Don’t eat the whole batch. Okay, this one is hard I get it but limit yourself to 3-4 wings for a serving.

TBK’s Pro Tip: Want more OOMPH? Add more chili powder and let it sit even longer. I found with letting it sit for an hour with the lime juice and chili powder added a light flavor that was perfect for picky eaters.
