22 Summer Activities For The Family + Win a Shaun The Sheep Prize Pack
I’ve been trying to come up with summer activities and goals for my family and I for a few months. After a not-so-exciting summer last year, I knew I wanted to create a family summer bucket list. We wasted a lot of the summer last year with doing nothing (well, not nothing, Netflix is a thing isn’t it?). When we had a record snow fall this summer, I said to my husband that this year we were going to take full advantage of the summer and create some memories as a family. My son is three now, and he’s at the age where we can do a lot of fun things together.
Summer Activities Bucket List:
Here are my personal summer activities bucket list, be sure to share your own in the comments!
- Play more tennis, and learn the rules of the game (right now it’s a win if we can get a streak going).
- Go fishing and teach the little guy how to cast.
- Have my son catch his first fish.
- Teach my son T-Ball and register him for a team
- On August 5th, cool off in the theater and watch the new movie, Shaun the Sheep: The Movie. It will be our first theater experience as a family.
- Try S.U.P (stand up paddle-boarding).
- 3 words: Backyard camp out.
- Hike the local mountain trails.
- Teach my son how golf.
- Golf at least twice a month, bonus points if I can par a few holes.
- Finally run that 5k, with my son biking beside me.
- Visit the local hobby farm and introduce my toddler to the baby animals.
- Create the perfect BBQ sauce.
- Vis it and support the local Farmer’s Market on Saturday’s
- Spend as much time at the lake as possible.
- Put our new fire pit to good use, and roast as many marshmallows as our stomachs will allow.
- Go on our first real family vacation to Kelowna.
- Remember to be a tourist, and stop at attractions we believe Carter would like to see. It’s important to me that we’re not in a massive rush to get there.
- Visit the Kettle Valley Train in Summerland.
- Visit and participate in the activities at Myra Canyon
- Water fights!
- Take tons of photos and make many memories
Shaun the Sheep: The Movie – is a feature film based on the beloved children’s TV show of the same name. When Shaun decides to take the day off and have some fun, he gets a little more action than he bargained for. A mix up with the Farmer, a caravan and a very steep hill lead them all to the Big City and it’s up to Shaun and the flock to return everyone safely to the green grass of home. It’s a hilarious, fun family film, created by the animation house, Aardman (creators of Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run). Shaun the Sheep: The Movie – Theatrical Release is the must-see film for young children. Shaun the Sheep is in theaters on August 5th. Check out the trailer for Shaun The Sheep here.

This is a great list!! I love having water fights with my kids. Our favorite summer activity is camping (which is when a lot of the water fights go on! LOL)
I love that you and your son have a bucket list. That’s so smart. The summer goes by too quickly. I’m sure your bucket list will be something that he thinks back on fondly when he’s grown up!

My daughter is always talking about this movie! Can’t wait to watch it in theatres!
Please tell me you didn’t really have a record snowfall in the summer! 😉 The Shaun The Sheep movie looks so cute! Our goal this summer is to get my son caught up on swimming lessons so he can join other kids his age this fall. I can’t believe it’s August already – I better get started!!
It was! I had never seen so much snow 🙁 We even had a backhoe removing snow in our driveway and we couldn’t keep up.
I thought you for sure meant to type “in the winter” or even the spring!! We’ve never had snow here in the summer. If we did, I think I’d have to move! Ha!

The things at the top of our summer bucket list are hiking as many local trails as possible, swimming under a waterfall and lots of swimming!
I love the idea of a bucket list for the summer. I have a friend who does this and captures each in a picture for a scrapbook = super idea so must do!! 🙂

We’re looking forward to going to Medieval Times and to the Ontario Science Centre.
Water fights, zip lining, going to the beach and of course going to museums (ROM, Ontario Science Centre)
We’ve been camping a lot, but we haven’t had nearly as many campfires yet as I would like. It’s been really dry here, Halifax has been getting all of our rain… which is fine, but we have a well. It would be nice to get 2 solid days of heavy, non-stop rain and then it can continue being dry. This movie looks so cute! I would love to watch it with all my young nieces and nephews (and my boys as well)
My daughter has already taken the grandkids to see the movie. They loved it. Our family has always done a lot of camping and fishing during the summer. We always look for camping areas that allow swimming so we can keep cool.
SUMMER ACTIVITIES ON MY BUCKET LIST? GOING TO CEDAR POINT AND FINISHNG PAINTING THE HOUSE
i want to go boating
Go to Toronto’s Air Show.
