Gluten Free Caramel Apple Crumble Pie Squares

These caramel apple crumble pie squares are like little, bite sized flavor BOMBS! They are salty and perfectly sweet, decadent and gooey… But the best part is: They are made with 100% healthy, real food ingredients! I just love these mini apple pie bars, which are made of a salted crumb topping on top of an apple & cinnamon filling and a tasty almond flour crust. This recipe is gluten-free and dairy-free.

Caramel Apple Crumble Pie Squares - a gluten free bar recipe that's so freaking delicious!

Caramel Apple Crumble Pie Squares

These taste just like your old grandma’s homemade apple pie, minus the unhealthy fats and processed sugars. Plus I got rid of all-purpose flour.

What’s the point? Well, in short, let’s just say I ditched of all those unhealthy ingredients your grandma used which were reaaaaally bad for your body and replaced them with highly nutritious, but still very tasty counterparts.

It’s like switching from a diesel car to an electric one… (Hello Volkswagen!)

I won’t lie to you though: This is STILL a dessert. It IS high in calories. But unlike old-fashioned desserts, these are GOOD calories, NOT empty calories.

Win-Win right?

Caramel Apple Pie Crumble Bars - a healthier alternative that's gluten free and dairy free.

I am making you a promise.

You will feel the difference in how you feel after eating a couple of those. Remember how you told yourself: “Oh man that was good, but I’m good for another year…” After eating a slice of your old grandma’s pie?

Not with those.

Nah.

You’ll feel just fine.

Healthy Caramel Apple Pie Bars

Which variety of apple did I use?

Golden Delicious. These are from experience among the best, if not the best variety for apple pie.

I was tempted to go with MacIntosh as these are my favorite to snack on and I always have a drawer full of them in the fridge, but I decided not to as they tend to turn out mushy when baked.

How to eat this dessert?

Warm. And I love them plain, without any topping. Just like that. Hmmm…

But I guess you could serve them with thick cream or a huge scoop of vanilla Ice Cream, like a traditional apple pie.

The second option is less healthy though, obviously.
